According to a recent study conducted by Managing Partners Group (MPG), a prominent asset management group, a staggering 88% of professional investors are planning to shift their focus towards yield rather than growth in the next five years.
The research, which surveyed wealth managers, pension funds, and institutional investors responsible for managing a combined total of GBP 258 billion in assets, reveals that this focus on yield is driven by the objectives of the assets they manage, as well as changes in the macroeconomic and geopolitical landscape.
Of the 88% who expressed their intention to prioritize yield, 35% expect a significant increase in this focus, while 53% anticipate a slight increase. Only 12% stated that their focus would remain on growth rather than yield.
The study, which involved 100 professional investors from Switzerland, Germany, Italy, the UK, and the US, further found that nearly all participants (93%) believe that the yield on their portfolios or managed funds will increase in 2023 compared to the previous year. Among them, 20% anticipate a dramatic increase in yield, while 73% expect a slight increase.
