The Ministry of Social Affairs in the Netherlands is gearing up for a significant public relations drive to introduce the country’s revamped DC pension system. The campaign aims to convey the message that the pension reforms are designed to ensure the continued robustness of pension plans for all citizens.

Dennis van Steijn, a senior communications adviser at the ministry, highlighted this pivotal change during a recent webinar for communication professionals. The campaign will employ a multi-channel approach, utilizing TV and radio commercials, online platforms, and social media to disseminate information from August 21st to September 10th. A follow-up series of commercials is also scheduled for October.

Prominent pension funds, including ABP, PFZW, and PME, have pledged their support to amplify the campaign’s reach. PFZW’s spokesperson indicated that they intend to leverage their social media presence to bolster the message’s circulation. Similarly, ABP, a civil service scheme, will utilize its communication channels to offer general information about the new system and the transition process. PME, in addition to crafting fresh communication strategies, is arranging informational sessions to educate participants.

A central element of the ministry’s communication strategy is the launch of the website Pensioenduidelijkheid.nl. This platform replaces the previous Onsnieuwepensioen.nl site, incorporating all prior information. The new website will serve as a comprehensive resource for Dutch citizens seeking insights into the altered pension regulations, the upcoming changes, implementation timelines, procedural details, and avenues for further information.

The Netherlands’ proactive stance in launching this expansive campaign underscores its commitment to keeping its citizens informed about the forthcoming pension system changes. By embracing various communication mediums and collaborating with major pension funds, the government aims to facilitate a seamless transition while assuring citizens of the continued strength of the pension system.
