Francesca McDonagh appointed CEO of Universal Investment Group
Francesca McDonagh is set to take over as CEO of Universal Investment Group starting on January 1, 2024. She brings over 25 years of experience in international leadership roles, focusing on business growth and service. David Blumer, the interim CEO, will transition to the position of chairman from that date, continuing to support the management team.
McDonagh’s appointment has been welcomed by Blumer, emphasizing her extensive experience and client-centric approach, making her the ideal person to lead the group’s growth and service evolution. Blumer expressed his anticipation of supporting McDonagh and the management team in furthering internationalization and enhancing technological and operational capabilities.
McDonagh expressed her enthusiasm for joining Universal Investment Group, aiming to establish the business as a global leader in its sector. Her plan involves driving the firm’s growth trajectory through internationalization and positioning Universal Investment as a reliable partner for clients within and beyond Europe.
Before joining Universal Investment Group, McDonagh served as the group chief operating officer of Credit Suisse Group, leading several initiatives during the bank’s integration into UBS earlier this year. Prior to that, she held the position of group CEO at Bank of Ireland, where she orchestrated the firm’s repositioning over a five-year period.
Her primary focus in the new role will be on driving growth through geographical expansion, M&A activities, and enhancing Universal Investment’s offerings for both existing and new clients.
