Fidelity International strengthens sustainability team

Fidelity International has announced the addition of two senior members to its sustainability team in London. Phil Cliff joins as Director, Sustainable Investing with a focus on climate integration, while Aaron Hay joins as Director, Sustainable Investing with a focus on ESG integration within the firm’s private credit strategies. 

Phil Cliff, with over 20 years of investment experience, notably as the former Head of Climate at M&G Investments, will concentrate on enhancing Fidelity’s climate strategy. His role will involve steering the firm’s commitment to halve emissions across investment portfolios by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050. Additionally, Phil will align reporting strategies with the integration of climate considerations into the investment process and Fidelity’s pursuit of net zero across its corporate operations by 2030. 

Aaron Hay, joining from Federated Hermes Limited, brings a wealth of experience in investee stewardship and sustainable investment strategy. His role focuses on developing and executing sustainable investment strategies for Fidelity’s private credit capabilities. This involves ensuring the robust integration of ESG factors throughout the investment process and leading stewardship and engagement activities with borrowers to enhance ESG outcomes. 

Jenn-Hui Tan, Fidelity International’s Chief Sustainability Officer, highlighted the rapid evolution of the sustainability landscape and the company’s commitment to staying at the forefront of this change. The appointments of Phil and Aaron are aimed at bolstering the ESG team’s expertise, reflecting Fidelity’s investment in talent to drive innovation and best practices in sustainability.
