Caroline Portel new Global Chief Operating Officer at AXA IM

AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) has announced the appointment of Caroline Portel as Global Chief Operating Officer (GCOO), effective from July 1, 2023. Portel will succeed Laurent Caillot, who is leaving the AXA Group to pursue a new professional opportunity.  

AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) has announced the appointment of Caroline Portel as Global Chief Operating Officer (GCOO), effective from July 1, 2023. Portel will succeed Laurent Caillot, who is leaving the AXA Group to pursue a new professional opportunity. 

Based in Paris, Portel will be a member of the AXA IM Management Board and will report to Marco Morelli, the Executive Chairman of AXA IM. In her new role, Portel will be responsible for overseeing Technology, Operations, Data Management, Project Management, Security Procurement, Facilities, and Innovation.  

She brings a wealth of experience to the position, having held various senior roles within AXA since 1999, including CFO positions at AXA Global Life and Architas Group. Portel holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Electronique in Grenoble (ENSERG) and an MBA in Corporate Finance and Accounting from the University of Rochester in the US.
